Damien has just only re-appeared in the story. Max the vampire hunter contacted Samantha to let her know that she was being tailed by a man fitting the description "Long wussy blonde hair... built pretty well... looks like a fucking catalogue model" who had been hanging around the Blood Diamond. Samantha found him there and confronted him. Damien calmly explained that he had been sent in a turn of fate by his Mistress Hyrathren Su to protect Samantha.
